PRICE AND PARTICIPATION

Smart Money Flow

Put positioning changes next to price context. Smart Money Flow gives Pro members a place to examine reported trader exposure and a separate price-based proxy, with daily chart phases that make the research easier to follow.

Follow changes in reported exposure

The COT-based flow view compares changes in commercial and speculator positioning. Use it to explore how the reported balance has shifted between observations, then return to the underlying market and trader categories.

This measure uses reported positions. It does not reveal individual bank orders, identify the institution behind a trade or measure every participant in the market. Its observation date and publication lag remain part of the interpretation.

Inspect the separate price-based proxy

The Smart Money Proxy Index is calculated from price bars. It adds a different view of market behaviour alongside the price chart, with smoothing and reference levels available in the workspace.

Read the proxy as a price-derived research measure. It is not the same data as the COT flow measure and is not proof that institutions are buying or selling at that moment. Agreement or disagreement between the views is something to investigate.

Read the daily chart and its phases

Daily chart arrows mark the overlay’s directional events. Faint green and red backgrounds show the corresponding phases, with vertical lines helping you locate changes in time.

Inspect those phases against the actual candles and the latest available price date. Projected arrows can extend beyond the latest candle; they are projections, not completed future trades. Provider session dates and prices can differ from another charting platform.

Connect the chart to your research

From a confirmed signal, use View on Daily Chart to open the selected market’s daily timeframe in Smart Money Flow. This keeps the chart close to the setup you are reviewing.

Trade Confirmation has its own eligibility rules. A chart phase alone does not create a confirmed trade plan. Combine the chart with COT context, source dates and your own risk assessment rather than treating a coloured phase as an instruction to trade.
