COT charts & institutional positioning
The Commitments of Traders report describes exposure held by categories of traders. CIPEX organises futures-only CFTC data across 41 markets, with long, short and net positions, historical charts and commercial positioning context.
Use Markets to explore the universe and your watchlist to keep a research shortlist. Report dates stay visible so a weekly position is never mistaken for an intraday trade.
Read the COT report guide →Smart Money Flow & chart phases
Follow changes in commercial and speculator exposure using the COT-based flow measure. The separate Smart Money Proxy Index uses price bars; it is an analytical proxy rather than a direct record of institutional orders.
Explore price history with daily chart arrows and shaded phases. Those projections provide a chart research layer and do not identify where a named bank bought or sold.
Understand the two flow measures →Trade Confirmation, Trade Ideas & Major Reversal
Confirmed trade plans require agreement between commercial COT direction and a completed daily close through the relevant monthly ADR boundary. Reference entry, stop-loss and target levels update with saved price data; they are research levels, not executed trades.
Major Reversal lists only markets whose blue price line reaches an extreme on its dashboard chart: +80 or higher is labelled Extreme Bearish, and −80 or lower Extreme Bullish. This uses chart price position, separately from the COT score.
See a step-by-step research workflow →Fundamentals, seasonality & market participation
Review fundamental analysis and dated source evidence, seasonal history, open interest, positioning flows and hedge-fund weekly flow. Institutional Insight brings trader groups into a comparative view.
Look for context and conflicting evidence rather than relying on a single label. Historical patterns and extreme readings can persist while prices move further.

COT is weekly, published with a lag. Price snapshots have their own dates. Currency futures can use an inverse quote direction to some spot FX pairs. CIPEX is research software; it does not place trades or guarantee a result.
